Question:
What's the one area in our life that we ignore and still
expect to stay strong?
Answer:
Our intimate relationship.
We wouldn't ignore our job, responsibilities as a parent,
or close friendships without expecting some decline, but
somehow we think that our intimate relationships should
just take care of themselves naturally. Well, they don't.
Most people would like their love life to be better, but
they don't know where to start.
Sex Education is NOT just for kids!
I developed the following LoveLessons
and LoveTools to show you step-by-step
how to improve your loving relationships. Once you know
WHAT to do, you just have to make some time to do it. The
more you are willing to put into your relationship - the
more you will take out.
Some things to keep in mind:
- Sex education about the "birds and the bees" may seem
like kidstuff, but learning how to keep love exciting
is a lifelong adult challenge.
- Don't think in terms of changing your partner. The
only one we can change is ourselves. If each person takes
responsibility for themselves, the "couple" will be off
to a wonderful start.
- Keep an open mind. Don't assume that you already KNOW
what you or your partner is thinking or feeling. By practicing
the LoveLessons and LoveTools
you will learn about yourself and grow together as a couple.
- Take small steps and don't expect perfection. Small
changes produce large results. Set reasonable expectations
and you won't be disappointed.
- Be patient with yourself and with each other. It took
years to develop your individual love style, so don't
expect to change it overnight.
- Remember to look for the positives in your partner
and acknowledge one other's efforts. Words do matter.
- Don't make excuses for not having time for intimacy.
In this technological age we're all much too busy answering
our e-mails or trying to be supermom and superdad. Think
of intimacy as our relationship's fuel in the same way
that food is our body's fuel. MAKE time to nourish your
love. It only takes a moment. Don't assume that intimacy
has to include intercourse or genital touching. Remember
- the heart connection is what makes sex extraordinary.
